This blog is extremly helpful in our gathering of information to make 2006 the best ride ever. We are motivated. We have great leadership for 2006, and we have committed members of Chelan Rotary that are already having meetings to discuss and act on great ideas for a successful ride.

For 2006 I am on Scott McKellar’s team of organizers, working the logistics. But I did ride up mcneil today starting at 880' and topping out at 100' higher than snoqualmie pass I salute anyone who has tackled it after a day in the saddle, my only company was 5 rattlesnakes sunning themselves. See ya out there...

For some curious reason the Chelan century people schedule their ride for the day after the Wenatchee century, I think I heard their were a couple of super humans that did both and neither were me, 8000′ of climbing the day after a hundred or so miles, nope. I went with the equivalent to the Grand Slam Breakfast because my body craved salt (the bacon), carbs (pancakes and syrup), but I needed protein (eggs) to stay awake for the drive home. You're absolutely right [that it's about the ride], which is why I was pondering the influence of when I write about it. Next time I'd like to bring my wife and kids up next time as I think they'd enjoy the park. The post-ride Tim's Chips/Guinness would be a bonus.

Hi Michael,

The Apple Cup Cafe was better than its external appearance would suggest. Just wanted to note that my first clue about the rookie nature of the organizers (besides the late start, I was there before 7 as well) was when the guy handed me my "goodie bag" which included my jersey number and then he looked confused when I asked him if he didn't want to write down my number next to my name. He asked "Is that what they usually do?"
Was also curious about how the meal was at the Apple Cup. Only meals I had in town were lasagna at the pizza parlor across from Don Morse Park the night before the ride (horrible) and after the ride, we went to Safeway where I downed two Guinness' and the better part of bag of Tim's Cascade potato chips (body was CRAVING salt and beer, not necessarily in that order). Remember, I had my designated driver with me. Kids and I slept on the way home.
Glad you re-thought your feelings about the ride a bit. I agree that the support left a lot to be desired but, for me, at the end of the day, it's about the ride and I loved it.

I left my comments on the ride already. This is really just for you.<br
