I am a Mooney owner, and don't regret a dime I have spent. I'm not in denial either, because I have owned 3 of them over the last 30 years of flying to every state except Hawaii. I have always sold my aircraft for more capital value than I put into them. But of course the variable expenses are going to be slightly higher than renting, but you can't rent the kind of plane I have. I also fly a lot of Angel Flights which are priceless acts of kindness that you can not put a price on. Add the partial use of the aircraft as a business expense, and you can at least break even on aircraft ownership.
