I'm selling a wireless broadband router on eBay. Since posting the ad Saturday night, I've received twothree inquiries, onetwo asking me if the item was new, another asking me what was included. Despite polite and informative replies, neither has bid on my item.
I realized I made a few mistakes in my ad:
This is why my ebay "feedback" is only 52 instead of 5883, like this "vendor".
I realized I made a few mistakes in my ad:
- I should have typed my ad text slower because the first word of the description, "used," was obviously missed.
- To most people, an itemized inventory would work, but this is eBay! Pictures, stupid javascript widgets, multi-colored text, and animation are the tools to convey information.
- My ad doesn't appear legitimate because it contains purely factual and verifiable information about the product. It lacks the mandatory exaggeration. Oh, like
- "Wireless A enhances the bust line, tucks in the tummy, and firms up the buttocks."
- "The built-in four port switch reduces surface friction by over 77%!"
- "Read the documentation on the setup CD and get your shoes delivered overnight via UPS."
- "Read the Quick Installation Card and lose 99 lbs by Junetober!"
And, of course, the moniker of eBay truthfulness:
