RD recently reported a sour purchase of a DVD online. This was an interesting case where he regularly does preorders of new media but happened to get the low-ball by a parasite fraudistic seller who was really offering just a list of wholesale vendors. (This list concept is very similar to the Cockeyed.com article, only for other products.)

The cost of the item was $1.50, plus shipping and handling, or essentially $5.00 for something excerpted from google.

When asked about the purchase, the seller responded by denying deception and quoting his ad:

Seller: xxxxxxxxx
Ships from: FL, United States
Comments: – READ CAREFULLY PLEASE, THIS SALE IS NOT FOR THE DVD! It is for a LIST of websites on how and where to buy DVDS like this one at WHOLESALE! It will be e-mailed to U after purchase, SORRY NO REFUNDS!!!!

Of course, since this was a preorder set up to match criteria like “Very good or New Condition” and price, my RD never saw the original ad. In case you were curious, the “product” was a word doc containing the following text, reprinted in its entirety:

WHOLESALE DVD WEBSITE LIST

Here are 5 sites for buying and selling quality DVDs at wholesale prices, enjoy.

http://edgewholesale.zoovy.com/category/dvdmovies/

http://www.wholesale-dvds.com/

http://www.buyritedvd.com/

http://wholesalediscs.com/

http://www.moviesvalley.com/

You can find most of this junk on wholesale411.com

Now here's the fun part: the guy chose to list this on RD's employer's site. I can't really share what went on, other than the seller is no longer a problem.
I'd expect this thing on ebay all the time, but it seems relatively new to this particular vendor.
